Screen Filtration Technology
Arkal Screen Line Filters
Screen filters can be manufactured in almost any size and are commercially available in a wide range of flow rates.
Screens are made either of a woven mesh, perforated plates, or wedge wire construction.
A screen filter is a surface filter with one retention layer for solids, As dirty water flows through the filter vessel from the inside to the ouside of the screen the larger particles are prevented frompassing and are contained on the screen.

Screen sizes available range from 3000 to 50 micron.
The effective filtration area of a screen filter can be rather high and the initial clean headloss quite low. Nevertheless, the DP can build up, necessitating an effective cleaning schedule.
Vacuum Scanner Cleaning
A rotating vacuum scanner sucks the "filter cake", off the screen without making actual phyical contact with it. The rotation and linear movement of the scanner allow it to reach every part of the screen in minimal time. This mechanism is very effective and does not damage the screnen.
Rotation Brush Cleaning
A bush rotations over the screen element dislodging th "fileter cake" and a purge valve flushes the dirt out through a drain while the system is pressurized.
